When Kat and Colin first got in touch with me about their Mexican inspired fiesta wedding in Hackney, I was so excited – they were planning such a fun and laid back wedding with lots of colour, a piñata and even a mariachi band. Kat and Colin are the loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
If you’re looking for a pretty laid back and relaxed photographer chances are you’re a little nervous, maybe anxious in front of the camera and don’t often jump at the chance at being in front of it, so the idea of a pre-wedding shoot may sound super scary to you but here’s a few reasons why I think you should have one and how they are so not scary!
Emma and Jim got married at the unusual Goody Ales, Herne Bay, in August. It was a crazy marquee wedding, with plenty of beer on the tables and Morris dancers everywhere.
Us Brits are pretty familiar with the crazy weather changes of good old blighty, but the constant shift in conditions can play havoc with your wedding day plans. You may have planned to have your wedding photos out in the gardens of the venue, but then torrential rain hits, or you’re wearing a beautiful strapless gown and the temperature had plummeted to under 10 degrees. It’s the kind of thing that keeps a bride-to-be up at night.
When Katie and Matt first got in touch with me about their relaxed wedding in Hackney, I was so excited – they were planning the most relaxed urban wedding with friends, family and even dogs! Katie and Matt are the most fun people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
Kirsty and Joe got married at the gorgeous Tudor Barn, Eltham, in August. It was a brilliant summery wedding, with tarot cards on the tables and homemade paper cranes creating an awesome photobooth backdrop.
Back in February I headed to Somerset for the first retreat hosted by the London Wedding Breakfast Club cleverly titled “Brunchfest” but boy was there more than brunch! The idea of the retreat was that everyone could take a much needed chill out after a super busy wedding season and have 4 days to just unwind, relax, share and have fun.
We’ve all been to those weddings where we’re left standing around having awkward conversations with distant relatives about how our cat is doing while the bride and groom are off having their photos done, and it can feel like an eternity!
I met up with Gina & Mark and their little pug Ernie not too long ago on a super warm Sunday afternoon for their pre-wedding engagement shoot. They're getting married in Croydon in October with a warehouse vibe so we thought it would be cool to venture around a park for their shoot so they some different images to what we'll take on the wedding day (think more industrial streets and graffiti) I suggested Victoria Park in Hackney as it was fairly easy for them to get too and not too far from me and was pretty chuffed to find out that Gina used to leave near there so had some sweet nostalgia to it too!
