Do I need to wear white wedding shoes?

I saw a post in one of those Facebook groups the other week, you know the ones, buy/see/rent/sell your soul for your wedding etc. (don't even try to deny that you haven't joined one, we all know everyone does, even if it's just for the giggles!) But it got me thinking, someone asked if they needed to wear white wedding shoes, someone else asked what shoes to wear with an Ivory wedding dress, someone else was struggling to find "bridal shoes". To me, if a bride wears shoes to her wedding, they're bridal shoes right? So I decided to look through some of my galleries to remind myself what shoes some of my brides had worn and upon further inspection not that many had opted for whatever a traditional white/ivory bridal shoe is meant to be, so here's an idea of what shoes you can wear with your dress!

Relaxed DIY wedding at Chichester Village Hall in Godalming – Hattie & Tom

Hattie and Tom got married last July at the lovely Chichester Village Hall, which is a beautiful village hall in Godalming. They had their official ceremony a few days before, which meant they could have a personal celebrant led ceremony at the venue. They chose Chichester Hall, because it has so many options and it cut the budget right down for them. It was a DIY wedding, which I really love because you get that strong sense of family and friends helping out. I love shooting weddings at village halls, because it’s always so chilled and there’s no strict schedule. This hall in particular was lovely and light inside and had a cricket pitch outside which meant plenty of open space to take couple photos.

How to incorporate smoke bombs into your wedding photos

Why do I love smoke bombs?

Well, firstly I LOVE colour, all of the colours of the rainbow make me super happy so I find smoke bombs a fun way to inject a little bit more colour into a photograph. If you're having an outside wedding in a field, you're surrounded by a lot of green, pop an orange and yellow smoke bomb behind you and it really makes you stand out in your photo more!

Jess & Bryan - Kings Weston House

Up today is Jess & Bryans super fun, alternative wedding at Kings Weston House, Bristol. I actually met Jess whilst I was at University (UWE). We both took the same course where rather than write a dissertation, you write a business plan. Mine was on wedding photography of course and Jess's was on a cake business (wait until you see the wedding cake she made!). So when Jess first enquired I already knew it was definitely going to be an awesome laid back wedding!

Bath Christmas market couple shoot

Luckily for me Leah shares my love of Christmas - infact I think I can probably say she loves Christmas more than me and anyone I know! So coupled with the fact I knew this and knew there would be hints of Christmas (at their July wedding!) I suggested the possibility of a Christmas Market shoot and they were super keen on the idea!

Rustic Autumnal wedding at Fennes

Happy Autumn! If you follow me over on Instagram you've probably started to notice I'm already embracing Autumn (my second favourite season, Winter is no. 1 obvs). So I thought it was perfect time to share some Autumn wedding inspiration in the way of Michelle & Aarons Rustic wedding at The Fennes, Bocking, in October of last year. Fennes is a beautiful Essex wedding venue that I've been luckily enough to photograph at a few times now and each time I find new places inside the house or in the beautiful grounds.
