A SUPER FUN WEDDING IN A MUSEUM!

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM EAT YOUR HEART OUT, THIS IS A SUPER FUN WEDDING IN THE NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM OF TRING!

When Dee and Drew first got in touch with me about their fun wedding in Tring, I was so excited – they were planning an immense wedding at the Natural History Museum in Tring wedding with an outdoor ceremony, exhibitions to explore and even an open mic hour. Dee and Drew are the coolest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

Bride and groom prep

I started shooting at an air bnb, where the couple were getting ready, and it was so relaxed, because everyone was in a good mood. Dee wore a super cool tea length dress with blue and silver eyeshadow and her bright yellow hair in a retro style and Drew wore super cool suit complete with pocket watch and they looked so dapper.

Due to the nature of the museum being open to the public it meant they weren’t allowed access until the museum had closed. So with that having an impact on timings the couple opted to have a first look and do their couple photos and group photos before the ceremony! I actually highly recommend this because it means you get the photos done and out the way and can just enjoy the rest of the day and get drunk without worrying!

Andrew waited patiently outside whilst Dee got into her dress (which took longer than we thought when we realised a button was missing from the dress and had to do the buttons again to disguise this!) but once she was ready they had a super lovely first look outside before walking to their ceremony together.

The wedding

The wedding took place in the woodland clearing outside of the museum, the couple had said their legal I Dos a few days before so they had the registrar come and conduct a blessing for them both. It was a fun and relaxed ceremony, with the rain trying to peak through at the end but we made it through!

After the ceremony the couple had a bubble exit recommended by the venue as this was less impacting on the natural surroundings, and then the celebrations began!

Everyone followed the couple towards the museum where guests proceeded to explore! They made sure to leave plenty of time before food was served so that the guests could make their way around the museum and seeing all the exhibits, they had full access to the whole museum which was super fun for guests!

The party

During the reception they had an open mic hour, which was great fun and such a great way to get your guests more involved with your day. For dinner Up In My Grill (who I've worked a few weddings now and would highly recommend!) set up outside and guests queued for steak, chicken and chips when they wanted, and it was loved by all the guests. They also provided dessert later in the evening and were accomonied by Midsummer Nightcap who have an awesome caravan bar! After the meal there were a few speeches, then the couple cut their awesome personalised caterpillar cakes encased in their own glass housing to mimic the museum vibes and the band kicked off the party. The first dance and party itself took place on the top level of the museum surrounded by lots of exhibits which was pretty surreal but awesome at the same time! Guests partied all night to music by Mandy and the Midnight Swingers who do awesome swing covers of pop hits!
