Chalkney Water Meadows, Browning Bros Wedding Venue
Festival weddings at browning bros
Hey! Are you here ‘cos you’re looking at getting married at Chalkney Water Meadows?
As someone who has photographed a few weddings here as well as being a guest I’ve got all the inside scoop to share with you!
Here’s all you need to know about the venue:
Chalkney Water Meadows is one of two Browning Bro’s venues and is located in While Colne, Colchester and is just over 10 minutes away from the A12 meaning it’s super easy to get to from London, Suffolk or further afield.
It’s a unique dry hire venue next to Chalkney Woods. The space has an epic tipi set up ready for your festival wedding complete with a sound system, dance floor, bar area, great toilet block, optional bell tent hire and a cabin in the woods with a hot tub to hire. The tipi is situated opposite a beautiful lake with a wooden pontoon perfect for your wedding ceremony and a walkway around the lake provides a beautiful location for your photos.

Hey i’m Chloe and I take photos of you having fun!
I’m based in Colchester so I’m lucky to have an epic venue like Chalkney Water Meadows practically on my door step!
My style of photography is super informal, relaxed and full of colour which is the perfect fit for a festival wedding at Browning Bros. You’ll likely find me cutting shapes on the dancefloor when the party gets started!
If you want someone to photograph your day with a few awesome portraits of the two of you sprinkled in to the mix then I’m your girl.
USEFUL TIPS
Chalkney Water Meadows is an outdoor tipi venue - the space is a blank canvas so you can decorate it to suit your tastes, wether thats your very own wedfest or a more rustic boho vibe. Your caterers are able to drive up to the tipi to set up so you can have plenty of options wether thats street food trucks or BBQ.
You're able to have a glamping village of bell tents set up meaning once the party winds down you can all make your way back to your tent to sleep under the stars. They also have 2 cabins tucked away between the trees complete with a hot tub so if you don’t fancy a tent on the night of your wedding you can head to there on site.
The venue itself isn’t licensed for wedding ceremonies, but all this means is that you get to hire an epic celebrant or get a friend/family member to preform a totally unique ceremony and then you can go to a registry office before the day and do the ‘legal paper signing’ part.
