This is halloween - London Styled Shoot

“This is halloween…” A Tim Burtons Nightmare Before Christmas inspired wedding shoot at the Asylum Chapel, London

Let’s start by saying the Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my ALL TIME favourite Disney/non Disney films!! It’s just so good, with an amazing soundtrack, animation, storyline… I can just get lost in the whole thing! So when I was asked if I wanted to get involved with a styled shoot based around it I jumped straight in!

I love how the shoot built upon the black and white colour scheme of Jacks outfit but had subtle pops of autumnal colours in there, and most of all I loved that whilst there were pumpkins and skulls, a black marbled cake and a super cute doggo - the whole shoot stayed super cool and elegant and didn’t venture into any kind of tacky cliche world.

Our venue was very suitably fitting, the super cool and quirky Asylum Chapel, in Peckham, London. With its beautiful exposed crumbling walls and spooky altar it was just perfect, and somewhere I’d been wanting to photograph at for a long time!

A feast to remember

Laid upon a rustic table and mis-matched chairs from Purple Door Props were beautiful silk table runners from Pom Pom Blossom dark glassware, mini posion bottles (ala Deadly nightshade if you’re a NMBC fan ;) ) tiny pumpkins, skulls and the most beautiful stationary by Betty Lou Design displayed in a perspex box filled with flowers… which we’ll get too shortly, because oh boy were the flowers an actual Tim Burton dream!

Category is: Cake Extravaganza!

So lets talk cake & cake displays! Malarkey cakes made the most sophisticated interpretation of a halloween inspired cakes - a black marbled 3 tiered with a small branch to decorate it. The whole cake itself was suspended on a S W I N G (!!!) Adorned with beautiful autumnal florals by Lily Lupin Design (sidenote, whose business name I adore as there is a little nod to Harry Potter in there!)

We’re simply meant to be…

Lets talk about our two main people - Jack & Sally (Katie & Lewis) Katie wore two absolutely show stopping black dresses by Audrey Ashley Couture, Jacket by Sammy Leas Retro with head pieces by Hermoine Harbutt and jewellery by Kasun London. Lewis wore a suave maroon suit by Asos with a cute lapel pin by. Hair and Make up was done by Kayleigh Keen & Cassandra at Love Your Hair by Cassandra.

Light it up

Our J&S lights were provided by Locke and Busby! I loved that they had different colour options and provided us with a copper ‘&’ which really elevated the lights and made them such a stand out piece!

‘Til death do us part

Our ceremony show stopper was the iconic moon scene, where Vowed and Amazed loaned us their moon with bespoke curled hill set in front, which looked so freakin’ cool. Especially set upon a spooky stage, it was the perfect place for our Jack and Sally to say their I Do’s.
